Get Started OC 2018, a winner takes all competition. The prize includes $20,000 in cash, a $5,000 Cox Business technology package, and a one-year mentoring package to MasterMinds OC Startup Accelerator with Scott Fox.
The event was moderated by Kristen Mangers, Managing Director for Chicklabs, who did a fantastic job of keeping the pitchers in line and the judges on task, while entertaining the audience.
Each of the finalists was allowed a two-minute pitch, after which the judges had five minutes to ask questions and give feedback. Contestants and event attendees heard advice from the judges after each pitch. The five finalists represented a wide range of industries — including technologies enabling earthquake preparedness, touchscreens, agriculture, supply chain solutions, and of course accounting and financial. SmartBean® did not take home the grand prize but the event created tremendous excitement and new opportunities for us.
